Dog Tech in 2021
Many of us are addicted to dogs. Many of us are addicted to our smart phones. So… how about some apps that will combine those two loves so you never have to put your phone down again?? Although some apps are silly, some are very important and do some great work. Give these a look-over!
Pet Finder
If you are not yet a dog owner, and you are looking to adopt one, this might be the app for you. It is used by the Portage Animal Welfare Society, as you can see! (Note: Mace was recently adopted, but maybe your future fur friend is on the app right now.) Pet Finder is a great way to fall in love and we highly recommend it for anyone looking to meet a dog who is looking for their forever family.
LoveMyPet
How organized are you? Very? Not at all? ...do you need a little help? This app won’t help you with everything but it will help you keep track of your dog’s veterinarian record. Vaccinations, visits… it’ll help you with all of that. We use it and we find it is very convenient. Give it a go, maybe it’s what you need!
Best Friends ResQWalk
This app isn’t super helpful on a day like today… but later this week when winter goes away? Definitely. You can choose which ResQ you want to support, and every kilometre walked will help them out! (Once again, we selected Portage Animal Welfare Society – and don’t forget about the nail clinic this week in support of PAWS. Check our social media for more info!) Anyway, this app keeps track of how much walking you and your pet do. Any time you head out, turn it on. You’re helping a local cause and getting exercise at the same time. It’s a true win/win. (There is a leaderboard you can use to motivate yourself, too!) Just wait until when it warms up to give it a try...
TikTok
This app isn’t just for gags and memes. It’s also a great app for dog gags and dog memes. You start watching a few, clicking “like”, and you have a non-stop stream of dog videos. I’m not exaggerating when I say you can watch for hours without getting bored. Not saying we’ve done that recently or anything.
My Talking Pet
This is the only paid app on our list and it’s the only silly one. Is it worth it? Oh yeah. One of our clients sent us a video of their dog shouting “MORE STICKS” and it was amazing. If you want to send your friends and family some silly videos of your dog talking, try this. It comes with a free trial and you can decide to keep it or not. (I wish they had a lifetime membership. It would save me in the long run~)
These are just a few suggestions of tech in 2021 that we recommend. Are there any dog apps that you’d recommend that didn’t make our list? Let us know and maybe we can update this list in the future!
