A Valentine's Day Poem for our Furry Friends...
Does Valentine’s Day have to be about a person that you love?
Can it be about a dog who will chew on your shoe, sock or glove?
Can it be about someone who will do everything to keep you safe from harm?
Someone who reacts to the doorbell like it’s a fire alarm?
Someone who is so eager to take their human outside?
Someone who gets so much joy about an everyday car ride?
Can it be about your furry friend who takes you for a walk?
Who protects you from the cats and squirrels they’ll watch for like a hawk?
Your dog who doesn’t know what they did, and so they can’t confess,
They got so scared when you walked away they had to make a mess?
Or when you dropped the leash by accident and then you had to chase,
Because human’s best friend did not know it was not a race?
That super smile, that cute face, and those floppy ears,
But if you take your eye off your food you know it disappears?
With all of that frustration, is it still fair to say,
We love our furry friend so much, we’d have it no other way.
So, next Valentine’s Day, do you think that it would be fine?
To offer your good girl or boy a treat and say “Will you be mine?”
